12 - 1:30 p.m.
(Delivered via web, Eastern Standard Time)
Have you ever considered that your community or destination may have limits to growth and/or attractiveness? Have you ever wondered what might come next with too many or too little people visiting in your favorite weekend or daytrip getaway? Have you witnessed off-the-beaten-path locations become hot destinations only to wonder where they are headed next?
Destinations, like all other products, have a life cycle to them - believe it or not! This webinar will focus on Tourism Area Life Cycle (Butler, 1980) models, also known as the TALC model. Participants will be introduced to the various TALC stages a destination may experience as well as additional theories applied to TALC over the years and learn just where a destination can choose to fail or succeed.
This webinar will be conducted using an online platform called Zoom. For this session specifically, you will need access to the internet. The presenter will be sharing a PowerPoint presentation and visuals allowing the participants to engage directly in the life cycle model as it relates to their experience(s). Paricipants will receive instructions in a confirmation email on how and where to connect after they have registered.
The presenter will be signing on 15 minutes early to help participants trouble-shoot any challenges with sound and connectivity. Participants are asked to sign on early to ensure there aren't connectivity issues. Paricipants will receive instructions in a confirmation email on how and where to connect after they have registered.
