Showmanship workshop for Beef, Sheep, Dairy and Swine, for youth ages 5-19. Wash rack, clipping to show ring with live animals. Other sessions offered: Project Books, Animal Welfare, Nutrition and Zoonotics.

Everyone is invited to lunch starting at 12 p.m.

No refunds after May 1, 2019.

Session Descriptions:

Showmanship - Youth will have hands on experience showing an animal (we provide the animals and all the show equipment). They will receive tips on how to get the judges attention, how to make their animal look its best, along with other information to help them be at the top of their class on show day. The last 15 minutes of this sessions, they youth will “show” their animal for the judge. The leader will chose one winner from the class.

Animal Health - Learn how to keep your animal healthy, and ready to show day. Learn how to prevent diseases form spreading from animal to animal and from animal to human.

Buyer’s Letters and Thank You Notes - Learn how to get buyers to come to the auction and bid on your animal. Thank you notes - the importance of them, how to write one that stands out from the rest.

Barn Manners - Learn how to represent your County at the fair. Youth will learn how to tie up your animal so they stay tied up! How to handle yourself when the public is coming through the barn, and do's and don’ts of keeping the barn ready for the public. 
Dress for Success on Show Day - Learn what you should wear and what equipment you should have for the big day.  

Prior to Show Day - The youth will learn where their animals need to be weight wise two months, one month and one week prior to show day. How to push an animal to gain weight and how to hold back. When to work with your animals and how long you need to work with them.

Prior to the Day - Learn what you should be doing two months before show day, one month, and one week. How much your animal should weigh, how to change up the feed to get to your goal weight. How and when you need to train your animal so you can stand out on show day.
