4-H Dairy Health Day

Join Michigan 4-H for the 4-H Dairy Health Day. This one-day workshop will be on Saturday, April 20, 2024, on MSU’s main campus in East Lansing. It is designed for 4-H youth and volunteers in the dairy science project area. Youth will learn about different aspects of dairy cattle health throughout multiple breakout sessions. Session topics include discussions on dairy cow and dairy calf health! 

The 2024 Dairy Health Day is open to youth ages 12-19 (as of Jan. 1, 2024) and 4-H volunteers. Space will be limited to 60 people: 50 youth and 10 volunteers. 

Activities will take place in Anthony Hall (474 South Shaw Ln East Lansing, MI 48824). Free parking will be available all-day Saturday in lots 40, 41, and 43.  Please see the MSU campus map for parking locations.  

COST: $35 per participant (includes lunch and a t-shirt)
Note: No overnight lodging or transportation is provided - these are the responsibility of program participants.  
Cancellations after April 12th are non-refundable.

Participants will pre-select one session per time slot during registration. Please select a different offering for each time slot.

Session A (10:30-11:30 a.m.)

  • Session B: A Happy Cow is a Healthy Cow: Strategies to Evaluate Her Health
  • Session C: Getting Them Started Right: Caring for Newborn Calves

Session B (11:40 a.m. – 12:40 p.m.)

  • Session A: Optimizing Calf Health Through the First Few Days of Life: Why Colostrum & Calf Nutrition are Important
  • Session B: A Happy Cow is a Healthy Cow: Strategies to Evaluate Her Health
  • Session C: Getting Them Started Right: Caring for Newborn Calves
