Bringing the Farm to School 2026

Jan. 21, 2026
10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

West Central Michigan Horticulture & Research Extension Center
5185 N. Oceana Dr.
Hart, MI  49420

This workshop is designed for local farmers and food processors to learn strategies for selling products to school districts.

Learn best practices and challenges from the first year of the Partnership for Local Agriculture and Nutrition Transformation in Schools (PLANTS) and about the experience of working with local schools and over 20 west Michigan farmers through the Food Hub at FARM in Muskegon and an extension of the fall harvest summit of 2024.

Producers that attend this training will:

  • Learn about accessing school markets and growing products for schools.
  • Hear from producers that have successfully navigated school markets.
  • Gain new knowledge and resources for integrating school markets into your business plan.
  • Meet local peers and experts, and have questions answered.

The development of this training was funded at least in part with federal funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Service through an agreement with the National Center for Appropriate Technology and partners with the National Farm to School Network.

Cost: FREE with lunch provided
