Learn How to Prepare and Sell Foods Under Michigan’s Cottage Food Law
Join us for a free, two-hour online workshop designed to help you understand Michigan’s Cottage Food Law and the food safety practices needed to prepare and sell cottage foods successfully.
Michigan’s Cottage Food Law allows residents to make certain foods in their home kitchens and store them at home for direct sale to consumers. This workshop will cover:
- Safe preparation of cottage foods
- Packaging and labeling requirements
- Proper storage and transportation

- Live Q&A with a Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Inspector
- Business insights from the MSU Product Center
Participants who attend the full program will receive a Michigan Cottage Food Law Food Safety Certificate.
