MSU 2025 Spring Christmas Tree Meeting

Start the 2025 growing season with Christmas tree information with discussion of pest and weed management, cover crops and tree nutrition and pesticide safety. Lunch and snacks will be provided. Option to attend include in-person or virtual sign ups.  Restricted Use Pesticide (RUP) recertification credits have been requested for Michigan residents.

9:30 to 10 a.m.: Welcome, sign-in, refreshments

10 to 10:15 a.m.: Bill Lindberg, Introduction to Growing Degree Day Models

10:15 to 11 a.m.: Bert Cregg, Soils and Soil Testing: What you need to know* Virtual

11 a.m. to 12 p.m.: Rich Cowles, Early Season Insect Management * Virtual

12 to 1 p.m.: Lunch (provided)

1 to 1:30 p.m.: Pratima Devkota, Christmas Tree Disease management* Virtual

1:30 to 2 p.m.: Christina Currell- Implementing Cover Crops in Christmas tree production

2 to 2:30 p.m.: Christina Currell- PPE, What to wear to be safe with pesticides

2:45 to 3:45 p.m.: Weed management strategies: Bill Lindberg

 

Cost: $20 (lunch included for in person attendees)
