MSU 2026 Spring Christmas Tree Meeting

Start the 2026 growing season off right with information on Christmas tree production. Topics will include pest and weed management, tree planting how-to's and sprayer calibration demos. Snacks and water will be provided. This is an in-person event and will take place at Hillside Christmas Tree Farm (14745 Sharon Hollow Rd. Manchester, MI). Restricted Use Pesticide (RUP) recertification credits have been requested for Michigan residents. Space is limited and registration is required.

Agenda:

12:30 to 1 p.m.: Welcome, sign-in, refreshments

1 to 1:30 p.m.: Weeds in Christmas Trees: Why they cause problems and options for control – Bill Lindberg, MSU Extension

1:30 to 2 p.m.: How to calibrate herbicide sprayers with demonstrations: Tony Stefaini Hillside Christmas Tree Farm and Bill Lindberg, MSU Extension

2 to 2:45 pm: Tree planting Checklist: Tips for Success: Dr. Bert Cregg, Michigan State University

2:45 to 3 p.m.: Break Snacks/Water

3 to 3:50 p.m.: Spring season pest control- Tony Stefaini Hillside Christmas Tree Farm and Bill Lindberg, MSU Extension

3:50 to 4 p.m.: Final questions and survey of event

4 p.m.: Conclude

Cost: $10 (snacks/drinks included)
