Passing the Torch: Farm Transition Planning in Northern Michigan

Feb. 13, 2025
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy Offices
2846 N. Three Mile Road
Traverse City, MI 49686

Please join us for a review and discussion of important farm succession planning topics. We will discuss how to get started with the process, provide introduction to transfer techniques and instruments, and consider questions that need to be answered to begin to move forward with a farm transition. We will learn some basics about conservation agreements and how they can be used within a farm succession process. We will also hear from Michigan Farm Link, a group that works to connect farmers seeking land with landowners looking to lease or sell to farmers. A farmer panel will discuss their experiences navigating the challenges of farm transfers.
