MSU Extension offers an 8-hour ServSafe® Manager training course and certification exam. This class is designed for anyone working in the food service industry, including non-profit organizations.
Participants must receive a 70% score on the exam to earn a certificate.
Registration Information
The course is $75 per person. The required textbook, ServSafe® Manager 9th edition book with answer sheet, is sold separately.
Textbook Requirement - Must Purchase Separately
Please order the ServSafe® Manager 9th edition revised textbook that contains an answer sheet. Please order your book and read it before attending class. After registering for this class you will receive a confirmation message that includes the instructions on how to purchase a ServSafe® 9th edition revised textbook with an answer sheet.
Instructors
Classes are taught by MSU Extension educators, who are certified instructors and exam proctors through the National Restaurant Association.

- Forms of contamination
- The safe food handler
- The flow of food
- Food safety management systems
- Safe facilities, cleaning and sanitizing
Accommodations
Reasonable modifications/accommodations for program access, including alternative formats formaterials, and auxiliary aids for effective communication will be provided to participants at no cost. Requests may be submitted by filling out the box below or by emailing the event contact using the email address provided on the event registration and/or confirmation page at least two weeks prior to the event. Requests received less than two weeks prior to the event date will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and provided when reasonable.
