4-H Strawberry Preservation Workshop

This two-hour, hands-on technical workshop is designed for participants interested in both strawberry preservation and cultivation. The program includes:

  • Freezer Jam Production: Participants will prepare and package their own strawberry freezer jam using proper food safety and preservation techniques.

  • Hot Water Bath Canning: Instruction and demonstration of the hot water bath canning method, including equipment overview, safety guidelines, and step-by-step processing for high-acid foods.

  • Field-Based Strawberry Management: On-site education covering best practices for strawberry plant care, including planting, maintenance, harvesting, and pest management strategies.

All participants will leave with a jar of freezer jam and foundational knowledge in both preservation and horticulture. Ages 10-18years, youth 13 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Cost: $20
