Maple Syrup Tubing Installation

A maple stand near Rock, MI. Exact location will be shared closer to the event date.

MSU FIC personnel will hold a maple tubing layout and installation workshop. This is a hands-on training in the woods so dress appropriately for the weather as small groups will rotate between stations to complete a ~300 tap tubing installation. 

Topics include: 

  • What maple trees to use
  • Maple Tubing Layout and design considerations
    • Running wire
    • Installing Mainline pipes,
    • Installing Lateral lines running tree to tree
    • Installing drop lines and spiles
    • Tank and Vacuum pump options
    • Safe sanitation of equipment
  • Q&A
