2026-2027 Produce Safety Grower Training Course

The Michigan On-Farm Produce Safety Team will offer an in-person Produce Safety Alliance (PSA) Grower Training in Traverse City, MI at the Boardman River Nature Center at 1450 Cass Rd., Traverse City, MI 49685. There is free parking on-site, and lunch and drinks will be provided.
This course is designed for fruit and vegetable growers, farm managers, and others interested in Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), produce safety, co-management, and compliance with the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule.
For farms covered by the FSMA Produce Safety Rule, this course satisfies the training requirement in 21 CFR §112.22(c), which requires at least one supervisor or responsible party to complete food safety training equivalent to the FDA-recognized standardized curriculum.
Course Schedule
- 9 a.m. ET: Orientation
- 12 p.m. ET: Lunch break (lunch provided)
- 12:30 p.m. ET: Training resumes
- 4:30 p.m. ET: Evaluation and certificate application
- 5 p.m. ET: Course concludes

Registration and Course Materials
Course materials, including the required PSA Training Manual, will be provided to participants on training day.
Attendance Requirements
Participants must attend the entire course and should be engaged for the duration of the training in order to earn a certificate of course completion. Laptop and cell phone use should be kept to a minimum.
Certificates are typically issued within two weeks of successful course completion.

Cancellation is free if requested in writing within in 5 days of the training date by emailing bordenhe@msu.edu.
Registration Fees
The course fee is $170 (includes all training materials and fees associated with the certificate of course completion.
