Indigenous Food Sovereignty Summit

Join us for a powerful gathering that celebrates Indigenous food systems, cultural resilience, and community-driven solutions for food sovereignty, hosted by Michigan State University and the University of Michigan. This conference brings together Tribal leaders, farmers, youth, scholars, students and advocates to share knowledge, build relationships, and inspire action.
Registration
Regular Registration: $150
Student Registration: $75
Registration will close Sunday, March 29th. Refunds will not be provided for any cancellations on or after Monday, March 30th.
Stories and Narratives Submissions
We invite individuals and organizations advancing Indigenous Food Sovereignty to submit stories and narratives for oral presentations, hands-on demos, and workshops. We welcome sessions reflecting a wide range of expertise, including:
- Administrative (e.g., grant writing, food safety)
- Technical (e.g., seed saving, soil testing)
- Cultural (e.g., foraging, traditional hunting)
- Community-building (e.g., networking, intergenerational knowledge)
Sessions and stories may be 30, 60, or 90 minutes. Longer formats are available upon request. Questions for the program committee can be sent to events@anr.msu.edu.
Stories and Narratives must be submitted by midnight on January 19th. Confirmation of submission acceptances will be provided by February 16th.
Vendors
We are now seeking vendors to be part of this year’s Indigenous Food Sovereignty Summit in the following areas:
Food & Nutrition – local, Indigenous, sustainable, and traditional food informational displays.
Educational Booths – organizations, programs, or initiatives that share knowledge related to food sovereignty, land stewardship, seed saving, community health, Indigenous rights, or cultural preservation.
Arts & Crafts – handmade goods, traditional art, and cultural items.
Deadline for vendor applications is February 1st. Confirmation of vendor application will be provided by February 16th.
