Earn ServSafe® certification with help from MSU Extension.

MSU Extension offers ServSafe® Manager Training and Certification, which is a national certification program. This class is designed for anyone working in the foodservice industry, including restaurants, schools, hospitals, and non-profit organizations.

Certification exam is taken at the end of the day. Participants must receive a 70% score on the exam to earn certification. ServSafe® printed exams are available in French Canadian, Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish.

Registration Information

The cost of the training is $75 per person and does not include the cost of the ServSafe® Manager 7th edition book. Revised book (revised in October 2023).

ServSafe Book Textbook Requirement - Must Purchase Separately

You must have a ServSafe® Manager 7th edition Revised book (revised in October 2023) that contains an answer sheet to take the class and the exam. After registering for this class, you will receive a confirmation message that includes options to purchase a ServSafe® 7th edition Revised book (revised October 2023) that includes an answer sheet. Please get your book and read before attending class.


Classes are taught by MSU Extension educators, who are certified instructors and exam proctors through the National Restaurant Association.
