MASTER THE SCIENCE AND ART OF PRUNING!!!!!!  

Pruning is an important cultural practice used to maintain health, safety, vigor and appearance of woody plants. It involves both art and science – art, in shaping plants in harmony with their growth habit to enhance the landscape, and science, in knowing how, when, where and why to prune for maximum benefit.

MSU Extension Senior Horticulture Educator (retired), Rebecca Finneran will lead the interactive online Zoom workshops that are designed to help participants learn best practices for pruning and the proper equipment it takes for each job. You will be able to ask questions and interact with the instructor. And, prior to the workshop you have selected, you will have the option to submit photos for discussion and analysis, as time allows.

Following the January and March online workshops, Hands-on Outdoor Pruning Workshops will be organized in various Michigan locations. You will be notified about the dates, times and locations and can then register to select the hands-on workshop that works best for you, if applicable. There will be a separate fee for the Hands-on Outdoor Pruning Workshop.  

Technology Requirements: Below are recommendation for the optimal interactive online learning experience:

• A computer, laptop or tablet with the latest version of your browser
• A reliable, internet connection - broadband wired or wireless (3G or 4G/LTE)
  
• Webcam or HD webcam - built-in or USB plug-in
  
• Speakers and a microphone - built-in or USB plug-in

If you are a Certified/Re-certified Michigan State University Extension Master Gardener or Trainee, you may report 4 continuing education hours for the online pruning workshop you attend or watch via recording.

For your convenience, this workshop is being offered on four different days. To learn more about when and how to prune, register today for the workshop that best fits your schedule. All sessions will be recorded and the recording link sent to registrants after the session.

January 17^th workshop:  Registration deadline: Jan. 16, 2025, at midnight, or when the workshop is full.

Jan. 24^th workshop:  Registration deadline: Jan. 23, 2025, at midnight, or when the workshop is full.

March 7^th workshop:  Registration deadline:  March 6, 2025, at midnight, or when workshop is full.

March 14^th workshop:  Registration deadline:  March 13, 2025, at midnight, or when workshop is full.

Partial scholarships are being offered and if you would like to be considered, please let us know by checking the scholarship box on the registration form. You will then receive an email with more information about the partial scholarship.

Payment by Credit Card: via the secure MSU payment site. Debit cards requiring a PIN are not accepted. To ensure your transaction is processed, please enter your personal information exactly as shown on the credit card and do not include dashes or spaces when entering your credit card number. Upon completion of the payment process, you will see a screen showing transaction approval and will receive a receipt showing $0 balance.  

Your seat is not reserved until your balance is paid in full.

Refund Policy - for the Pruning Workshop

• A full refund, less a $10 processing fee, will be issued for any registration cancelled up to 7 days before the workshop.
• No refund will be issued for any registration cancelled within 7 days of the workshop. No refund will be issued for any registration cancelled after the workshop has started.
• Substitutions allowed.
