Understanding Tourism for Michigan Communities is a workshop for elected officials, organizations, businesses and residents across Allegan County who are interested in better understanding the current and potential impacts of the tourism industry.

Workshop Objectives Include:

  • To demonstrate the magnitude and significance of the tourism industry
  • To expose communities to relevant tourism trends and travelers’ interests
  • To provide a facilitated, open forum for innovative and collaborative exchange for developing tourism across your region
There will be two separate workshops that will cover both halves of the county. The first workshop will be on Thursday, March 8th from 1-4 p.m. at the Griswold Auditorium in Allegan. The second workshop will take place on Friday, March 9th from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Outdoor Discovery Center in Holland. Each workshop will cover the same material but participants from the east/central region of the county are encouraged to attend the Allegan workshop and participants from the west portion of the county are encouraged to attend the Holland workshop.

Workshop Times/Locations:
  • Thursday, March 8th, 1 - 4 p.m. at the Griswold Auditorium, 401 Hubbard St., Allegan, MI 49010
  • Friday, March 9th, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Outdoor Discovery Center, 4214 56th St., Holland, MI 49423
MSU Extension is partnering with the Allegan County Tourist Council to bring these workshops to Allegan County.
