MTU Education and Outreach Centers: A Conversation Starter for Broader Impacts

This panel highlights education and outreach centers at MTU and the resources available for staff and faculty developing broader impacts and other education and outreach initiatives.
Ms. Joan Chadde has directed the MTU Center for Science and Environmental Outreach for the past 25 years. The Center reaches around 10,000 people per year through programs like summer STEM camps, Water Festival, and more. Chadde has worked to promote diversity in STEM careers since 2008.
John Irwin, Ed.D., is a professor and chair of the MTU Department of Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology and is the director of the RISE Institute. Irwin is a former high school career technical education center instructor and community college professor with over 30 total years of teaching experience.
Cassy Tefft de Muñoz
Cassy Tefft de Muñoz is the director of educational outreach at MTU. Tefft de Muñoz has worked with students in many capacities, including admissions, recruitment, international student and scholar services, study abroad, and student affairs.
