Michigan Farm to Institution Network 20% MI Foods by 2020

Join the Michigan Farm to Institution Network for a peach orchard tour and discussion at Phillips Orchards in Clinton County on August 18th!

This tour will highlight one of Cultivate Michigan’s summer foods, stone fruit (Peaches), and showcase many elements of this diverse operation, including:

  • A welcome from Cultivate Michigan and local hosts including a mid-morning snack (coffee, donuts, cider, and peaches)
  • A guided tour of the peach orchard (handicap accessible) and Q & A with owners
  • Observation of peach harvest in progress. 
  • A history of the apple cider mill and bakery

WHAT: A Cultivate Michigan Stone Fruit Tour

WHERE: Phillips Orchards, St Johns, MI
1174 W Gratiot County Line Rd., St Johns, MI 48879

WHEN: August 18, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

COST: Free, but registration is required.

DIRECTIONS: 8 mi N of St Johns on US 127, 3 miles W on Gratiot County Line Rd, R into Orchards.   

Additional details will be provided to registrants prior to the tour.

About Phillips Orchard:

Brain Phillips and Greg Smyth are partners at Phillips Orchards, Cider Mill and Gatehouse Market off N US 127, St. Johns, MI.  The orchard has been in operation since 1852 where they produce over 17 varieties of peaches and 34 varieties of apples. They offer free community and school tours, event space and special events such as pruning and apple pie workshops. They also sell apples, donuts and cider, sweets; jam, jellies and sauces; wood crafts, and linens at the Gatehouse Market, which is open daily from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. For more information, go to www.phillipsorchards.com.
