July 2020 Bioblitz and Beyond!!

July 9 - Aug. 6, 2020
12 p.m.

Join us to participate in this joint venture that combines local area bioblitz events with weekly webinar lunch-ins  to deepen your understanding of the natural world around you.

What is a bioblitz?
A bioblitz is the documentation of living things in a given area. Multiple conservation organizations across the state are hosting bioblitz collection sites on local properties. The documentation is accomplished by taking and uploading pictures of what you have seen on the property into the designated project on the iNaturalist site. It's easy! All you need is an iNaturalist account, a camera and a wifi or cell connection in the field or at home for uploading!

What are the webinar lunch-ins?
Each Thursday at noon, from July 9th through August 6th we will host a one hour webinar to deepen your understanding of what you observe in the field. The first webinar provides an orientation of the project and the statewide partners. From there, we cover critter sights and sounds, tree and plant identification and exotic invasive plants and their native alternatives. The final webinar will feature a report on species observed at each property with prizes to successful bioblitzers!
