C4 - Conservation Communication: Catalysts for Change

In-person workshop Friday, April 25th, 2025, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. in Okemos (adjacent to East Lansing)
Throughout this six week course, each participant will work through the steps to create an engagement plan,
or communication outline to engage with a decision maker about a topic of their choice.
The topic should be a natural resource issue, such as exotic invasive species, resource conservation, or habitat restoration.
Please identify the topic of your choice prior to the program start date.
Course length: 6 weeks
Cost: $40, includes access to online sessions, handouts and the in-person workshop (with lunch)
Delivery method: hybrid (online and in-person)
Time commitment: Beginning on Monday, March 17, participants will complete 8 online modules which should take about one hour each. The in-person session will take place on Friday, April 25 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Michigan Nature Association Education Room, 2310 Science Parkway, Okemos, MI 48864. An optional 30-minute program orientation will be held via zoom on Thursday,
March 13, 2025, at noon.

Technology requirements:
You will need reliable internet access and a computer with an updated web browser. In addition, you will need a broadband internet connection (DSL or faster), and the ability to play back media content (for courses that include audio and video).
Supported operating systems and web browsers: D2L runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, or any other device with a modern web browser. We highly recommend updating to the newest version of whatever browser you are using as well as the most up-to-date Adobe Flash Player (version 10.1 or greater). Word processing software such as Microsoft Word OR Google account for use with Google Docs.
Adobe Acrobat or another supported PDF reader.
You will need access to a printer to print your student workbook (optional) and your completed Engagement Plan (required).
