Eligibility: Competitors must be currently enrolled in a 4-H Shooting Sports Club, which is supervised by a Michigan 4-H Shooting Sports Instructor holding current certification.
Registration: Advance registration is required. Registration closes March 14, 2026.
Number of Entries: Competitors may enter multiple events.
Cost: $20 for one discipline. $10 for each additional discipline. Registrations received without completed payment will be canceled on March 9, 2026.
Age Divisions: Beginner (Ages 9-11), Junior (Ages 12-14), Senior (Ages 15-19). Age determination date is Jan. 1, 2026.
Teams: A team will consist of three competitors. Teams will be assembled onsite by the match director. An emphasis will be placed on assembling teams from the same county or geographical region.
Awards: Individual awards will be distributed to the top three competitors at the conclusion of the discipline.
Range Rules: All firearms must be transported to the range in a proper case; one firearm per case. No firearm will be removed from the case until directed to do so by the range officer. Empty chamber indicators (ECIs) are required. Eye and ear protection are required. If a competitor handles their firearm in a dangerous manner, or violates any of the safety regulations, they will be disqualified. See https://grrpc.net/about/range-rules for further information.
Conduct: The spirit of 4-H sportsmanship as well as safe, appropriate behavior is expected of all shooters, coaches, and spectators at 4-H Shooting Sports events at all times. All participants and spectators will adhere to the 4-H Code of Conduct.
Coach Responsibilities: Coaching is permitted during sighting and preparation time, provided it does not disturb other competitors. During the match, non-verbal coaching is permitted, provided the coach remains behind the ready line. If a coach wishes to call a competitor off the line during the match, they must inform a Range Officer, and the Range Officer will notify the shooter.
Lodging: For those who are traveling and need lodging, we have reserved a block of rooms at the Residence Inn Grand Rapids West, 6 miles from the Grand Rapids Rifle and Pistol Club. Rooms are $104/night plus tax and can be booked here.
