Exploring with Scientists: Snake Adventures!

Saturday, September 19
2 - 3 p.m.

MSU’s Kellogg Bird Sanctuary
12685 East C Ave.
Augusta, MI 49012

Get up close with a live Michigan snake and discover how scientists study animals in the wild! Join graduate student Hannah at MSU’s Kellogg Bird Sanctuary for a fun, hands-on program designed especially for elementary-aged learners.

During this one-hour session, participants will:

  • Meet a live snake and observe its movements and features up close
  • Learn where snakes live, what they eat, and why they are important to healthy ecosystems
  • Bust common myths and build confidence around these often-misunderstood animals
  • Join a hands-on activity to see how scientists study animals and how nature, animals, and people stay healthy together

After the program, families are invited to stay and enjoy self-guided crafts, playtime in the Overlook, and a storybook walk featuring I (Don’t) Like Snakes by Nicola Davies.

Free for members; non-members may pay admission at the door.

Registration for Exploring with Scientists: Snake Adventures! is open.

Registration closes at 11:59 p.m. ET on September 17, 2026.
